CLIMATE AND WEATHER

Climate
RP is located in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica on the Pacific.
The general climate is warm with daytime temps in the 80's all year round.
Our 2000' elevation brings cooling breezes from the rainforest and mountains above and around - producing
temps consistently 5-10 degrees cooler that "at the beach" (water temp is 82-85 so there are no cool breezes
from the ocean)

Especially at night, we enjoy perfect sleeping temperatures and use light blankets.
In three years of operation, no guest has ever complained about the heat - to the contrary, we constantly hear
about how comfortable it is (one guest said, "San Diego weather!")

Seasons
Winter and summer here are distinguished by amounts of rainfall.
Summer (mid November through April) is dry and sunny - with little rain at anytime.
Winter (May through early November) sees several variations.  May, June, July, into August is thought of as
Indian Summer  - with clear mornings and late afternoon showers.  Late August, September and October usually
have clear mornings - with longer rain showers in the afternoon and evening.  Again it is always warm - mean
high temperatures vary by 3 degrees F all year.  There are no destructive hurricanes.  Occupancy rates at RP
stay consistent year round as they do in most of Costa Rica these days.

Weather
Like anywhere, weather is often unpredictable. During winter, rain usually develops later in the day - although a
few showers early are possible.  There are rarely full days of rain at anytime - but it can rain on and off
throughout the day during Mid Aug to Mid Nov.

Weather considerations at RP:
We have recently made a series of improvements to help make RP more comfortable year round.  Most of these
have been in preparation for rainy or damp periods including:
  • Comfortable movie room to settle in and enjoy a diversion
  • Improvement of our WIFI internet system enabling more weatherproof connectivity
  • Addition of a second living room in the Clubhouse - for reading and lounging
  • Addition of an indoor fitness and yoga studio
  • Addition of a pool cabana - providing outdoor cover
  • Addition of glass windows and water resistant window coverings to provide comfort during storms -
    and reduce dampness
  • Addition of movable folding doors to close up during inclement periods - and keep open most of the time
    to enjoy the surroundings.
  • Addition of special bed covers used during the day to keep beds dry for comfortable nights.
